TIP #1 Buy USA-Made or Canadian-Made
Buy one that is made in the United States, Number 1. That is one of the most important things you can do. Or Canada. The science behind them is the science that it should be and all those that are made are made in these two countries – the value is there so you get your money’s worth.
The maintenance of the water distillers is simple. And you can get the volume of the water that you need because different water production systems are available.
TIP #2 Determine Your Daily Water Usage
How many people are in your family? And how much water do you think they drink? DO you have pets? You have to have at least something that is going to satisfy your daily drinking consumption. You need to have something more than that because when you start drinking highly purified water – distilled water – then you realize it has a taste – it has a taste of purity and you desire that taste. A lot of people say it has no taste at all. Yes it does. (NOTE : See our blog post on Does Distilled Water Have A Taste?). They just don’t know what the taste of purity I yet. You start drinking more of that water to detoxify yourself and you start using it for food.
So we have to find out basically what your water usage is.
TIP #3 Determine Where You Will Place Distiller
The next thing is to determine what space you are thinking about for you water distiller because a certain size distiller is something you may not want put in your kitchen you may want to put it into your garage and drive a remote water line to your kitchen sink or another area as well. Or you might want it in your lower level or basement utility room and have the water driven up to whatever place that you want.
TIP #4 Determine What Type Of Distiller You Want
You can have them to put on your counter top or you can put them in a remote location in your home and drink it at your kitchen sink through a dedicated faucet for your drinking water.
You have what are called “Portables or Manual Fill” where you fill those up yourself.
I used one of those for many, many years in our kitchen and the decided that I saw the value of this and I just wanted to drink the water without having to think about having to fill it up on a daily basis. Some people would think that is a problem because I would have to fill it up. But it isn’t as big of a problem as carrying those bottles of water and it takes less time to fill up a manual portable water distiller then it does to make coffee. Because all you do is fill up the boiling chamber.
I would do it this way: I would fill up the boiling chamber in the morning before I went to work. And I’d get home for dinner and I would put that batch of distilled water away and I would just start another one. So when we first started it would be like 2 gallons per day for my wife and I and then if I got home from work early, at times I would put on another “pot” you might say of water in the boiling tank and then we would have time to make three. That’s three times seven days – that’s 21 gallons.
To visually give you an idea, those huge 5 gallon water bottles – so its like drinking 4 of those huge 5 gallon water bottles per week – That’s a lot of water! An it didn’t take any time from me other than putting water in the boiling chamber and moving it over to another dispenser – so those are the portable/manual-fill ones. So those will cost you less. They are found very commonly in kitchens today.
With an Automatic-fill one and a larger one you can have a nice large reserve and optionally send the water to other places in your home. When you go to your remote ones (also- auto-fill), people will generally want to feed the distilled water to their kitchen sink, to their refrigerator so their ice cubes are incredibly pure, so the cold refrigerator water is coming out distilled, or possibly to another location up in a bedroom in their home because they commonly get up at night and want a drink of water.
TIP #5 Do Not Wait Because of Cost
The most import tip for you is to not wait because I’m going to get into pricing in a moment. Don’t wait until you can afford the one you want. But start, as long as it is satisfying your daily water usage – if it is not then you need to try something else, but if it is satisfying your daily water usage then go ahead and do that. It may not be the “Cadillac” that you want but it may be a vehicle that produce less water and then take a look at the prices of each one of them.
Water Distillers Are Available For Most Budget Sizes
We can find something within a person’s budget for them to go forward on it. And that’s what I really wanted to encourage people. As you can’t afford it the prices are goin to vary because we carry the largest selection of brands that are out there – and some would say, “Why would you do that?” Because I am very skeptical about someone who say, “This is the very best one made! And you’re not going to find anything better in this world… and why? Because I carry it and I can sell this to you but I can’t sell any other ones.” Well that’s closer to the truth.
So I like people to have a choice, because sometimes you are already asking them to buy and look at distilled water, but people have theor own personal perspectives. A particular distiller may have a particular part that they see as more beneficial to them. For example some are really bright and shiny and should be put out right in front where people can oooh and ahhh. Others aren’t as bright and shiny, but they are every bit just as good. They produce every bit just as much water, but for the bright and shiny one you are gonna pay a little bit more for the glitz. But the bottom line is your water production.
Spaces
Some are configured a little bit differently. So you might want to take this one over that one because of the space requirements that you have.

Previously Purchased Distillers
You have people that have already bought a particular distiller or a particular brand name and they know how to take care of it or how to repair it which is simple. So they want to stay with that one regardless of how many others that you have. So there is a multitude of reasons why you want different distillers.

What’s on Sale?
Sometimes you have three distillers – the top brand name distillers that are manufactured in the United States or Canada, which is what we do, then you have personal preferences, recommendations from other people. But you also have to look at these three distillers and sometimes because the product is the same, the value is the same, engineering is about the same and there may be some slight differences like one may be on sale from the manufacturer at this time an therefore I can buy it for less then I could last month and it is as every bit as good as the other ones – but it is gonna cost me less this month. I will talk to someone and let them know I would buy the one on sale – but I would buy these other two as well. But right now if I would have to buy a distiller all over again it would be the sale one, even though I love the other brand that I had before. Why? Because I know the value is the same – and I know these distillers well – but this one is going to cost you considerably less. So I want to save you money and make it more affordable yet not compromise your standards in reference to the quality of the machinery that you are buying.
